Up The Elephant And Round The Castle

Up The Elephant And Round The Castle, 1983

Made by Thames Television for the ITV Network, this was Jim Davidson’s first dabble with sitcom.  Up The Elephant and Round The Castle ran for twenty two episodes, aired over three series, between 1983 and 1985.

Summary

Jim London, an out of work bachelor who spends much of his time drinking in the Freemason’s Arms whilst trying to earn a few quid doing as little as possible.

However one day he learns that his Aunt Minnie has died, leaving him a Victorian terraced house “17 Railway Terrace” in the Elephant and Castle district of South London.  He soon finds that owning his own home is not all that easy, with a squatter upstairs and a bunch of rather dodgy neighbours.
