Ken Dodd And The Diddymen, 1969

Diddy of course is an informal British word for short but it’s most famous use was by Ken Dodd who would perform with Diddymen in some of his live shows.

In 1969 The Diddymen got their own TV show alongside Ken Dodd.  Whereas in the shows Diddymen were generally played by children for the TV show they were puppets.

Ken Dodd And The Diddymen ran for 4 series between 1969 and 1972 running to 28 episodes which were typically 10 minutes in length.

Ken Dodd appears alongside The Diddymen following their day to day lives in Knotty Ash where they worked in the Snuff Quarries, Jam Butty Mines, Broken Biscuit Repair Works and Moggie Ranch.

Whilst there are many songs from The Diddymen no actual footage from the show seems to be in the public domain.
