Mrs Brown’s Boys – Mammy’s Ass – Christmas 2011

Could the annual Christmas outing for Mrs Brown about to become the next must see Christmas TV in much the same way as Fools And Horses was ?  If you take Christmas Day 2013 TV ratings it could be, as Agnes and family were top of the tree.

For this post we travel back to 2011 and the very first (of many we hope) Christmas Special.  Coming at the very end of the first series, series 2 was hot on it’s heels when it began on 31st December the same year.

The special attained ratings of 8.24 million, compared with 2013 topper of 9.4 million.

Christmas time in the Brown household and Agnes’ son Trevor is coming back from the missions abroad for the first time in four years.

Agnes is determined to make this Christmas a truly special celebration, now her whole family will be together at last. However, as we expect with the Brown household nothing is ever straightforward.

Son, Dermot, recently married to Maria, is under pressure to spend Christmas with his in-laws, the posh Nicholsons, Maria’s mum Hillary is doing her best to belittle Agnes’s efforts to decorate the Brown family home and just for good measure, neighbour Winnie needs help finding a job.

It comes as no surprise that Dermot’s dodgy mate Buster has his own problems delivering the turkey… All this and still no sign of any snow.
