Red Dwarf: The Promised Land, 2020
Red Dwarf: The Promised Land was the thirteenth instalment of the popular British science-fiction sitcom and the first feature length special to date.
It was back in May 2019 that during a radio interview that Kryten star Robert Llewellyn stated that there would be a thirteenth series of the hit show. This was further reinforced when in in June the same year John-Jules stated the new series was expected to be completed by the end of the year. However in October 2019 franchise holders UKTV announced that a 90-minute feature-length special would be produced instead, to be filmed from December 2019 to January 2020, with location filming scheduled for November.
Three 60-minute documentaries were also announced to accompany it, intended to act as a retrospective of all previous 12 series.
Filmed in Pinewood Studios in front of a live audience the TV special made it’s debut in April 2020.
Summary
Red Dwarf : The Promised Land sees the crew of Dave Lister, Arnold Rimmer, the Cat and Kryten face-off against Rodon the leader of a band of feral cats, who has pledged to annihilate all those who do not worship him as their god.
