Revenge Of The Pink Panther, 1978

It’s 40 years (1980) since we lost the great Peter Sellers.  As a tribute to the great comic we are looking back at the final outing for Sellers as one of his most famous characters, Inspector Clouseau.

Revenge Of The Pink Panther was Peter Sellers final outing as Inspector Clouseau and as it would turn out was released just two years before his death.  By now the franchise was becoming a little stale and Sellers no longer wanted to play the part.  Whilst funny, many fans believed that Revenge did not live up to it’s predecessors.

In an attempt to prove that he still a powerful force Philippe Douvier decides to kill Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

When Clouseau’s death has been announced, the former Chief Inspector, Charles Dreyfus, feels much, much better and is released from the mental hospital.

Meanwhile Clouseau tries to take advantage of his “death” and goes under cover with Cato to find out who tried to assassinate him.
