We mentioned this in our history of Christmas Specials post.  ITV’s answer to BBC’s Christmas Night With The Stars.  It ran along similar lines to the BBC offering, but had a much heavier emphasis on the comedy element (although other genres were included).

It ran on Christmas night from 1969 – 1972.  We have been unable to find very much more detail, certainly for at least two years it was presented by comedian, Jimmy Tarbuck.

The show offered a selection of specially written Christmas episodes of ITV’s most popular sitcoms.  These were mixed with sketches and musical interludes.

Among the shows to feature were: Man About The House, Love Thy Neighbour, Nearest and Dearest and Sez Les.

Although not very much information about the show is available, there is a full show to be seen, so sit back, click the link and enjoy All Star Comedy Carnival from 1972.  Jimmy Tarbuck is the presenter and gets the Emu treatment in part two.
