Blue Peter

Blue Peter, 1958

Blue Peter has been on TV screens for over 60 years making it one of the longest running TV shows and certainly the longest running children’s TV show in the world, having notched up over 5000 episodes and still going.

The popular children’s magazine program was first broadcast in 1958 on BBC1.

Such is the popularity of Blue Peter it has made household names of both it’s presenters and the pets featured.  Over the years popular pets have included dogs Petra and the legend that was Shep.

Traditionally broadcast on BBC1 and repeated on BBC2 the show moved to digital channel CBBC in 2013.

Summary

The show follows a magazine/entertainment format, features viewer and presenter challenges, competitions, celebrity interviews, popular culture and of course the sections on making arts and crafts from household items.
