Crosswits

Crosswits, 1985

Crosswits was the long running day time quiz show.  Produced by Tyne-Tees Television in association with Cove Productions and Action Time, the show was filmed at their now defunct City Road studios in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Crosswits began in 1985 and ran for 435 shows over 12 series before ending in 1998. It is perhaps best remembered for being presented by comedian Tom O’Connor, however Tom did not begin presenting until series 3, prior to which the host was Barry Cryer.

Summary

Two members of the public compete against each other to solve simple crossword puzzles. Each member of the public was helped out by a “celebrity” partner.
