The story so far… Tom Sloan then Head of Light Entertainment had come up with an idea for a series of sitcom pilot episodes.

The idea was simple a series of one off sitcom pilots any one of which could become a major new comedy for the BBC.  For this post we are looking at episode six of series two.  It was the last in the series under the title ‘Galton And Simpson’s Comedy Playhouse’  The successful writing duo would go onto have huge success with Steptoe And Son.

Lionel Hogg  is an unemployed, but highly qualified machine minder who is given a temporary job as handyman at a health clinic.  Look out for Frank Williams of Dad’s Army as the labour exchange clerk.
