Man Down, 2013
Stand Up comedian Greg Davies turns his hand to another top rated sitcom: Man Down.
Somebody at Channel 4 must have had an idea that this show was going to be successful. As before the first series had even been broadcast, they commissioned a Christmas Special.
Top comic actor Rik Mayall had a featuring role in series one that had been intended to become more prominent in series two. Channel 4 announced the second series whilst Greg Davis was on tour. However before filming could begin Rik Mayall died. This lead to Davies meeting Channel 4 bosses to discuss the future of the show.
Thankfully the series continued and by 2017 showed no signs of slowing down with broadcast of it’s fourth series. Then out of the blue Channel 4 announced it would not be returning for a fifth series.
Summary
As the series begins Dan is seen as a childish idiot trapped in an adult’s life, he’s helped along by his uniquely dysfunctional best friends, Jo and Brian.
He seems unable to navigate his way through the simplest of life’s tasks. On top of all this he’s stuck in a teaching career he hates and has to put up with the daily humiliation and torment by his Father.
