I’ve Got A Friend And It’s A Motorbike…

Solo One, 1976

It’s off To Australia for Solo One.  This show if memory serves me correctly popped up on ITV in this country in the 1980’s as part of their Kids’ summer holiday TV schedules.  We were unable to find much info on overseas broadcast, but if anyone remembers do drop us a line or comment.

Originally broadcast in Australia where it was a spin off from an earlier more successful show Matlock Police.

Solo One featured Matlock Police’s lead actor Paul Cronin reprising his role  as Senior Constable Gary Hogan, but tailored for a younger audience.  Sadly for Cronin whilst Matlock Police managed six series Solo One only ever managed one series of thirteen episodes.  However Paul Cronin did manage another long running role in the Australian soap The Sullivans

Summary

Solo One is set in the real country town of Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne and used the town’s actual police station.

In the series Hogan sorts out problems for the locals. His call sign is Solo One, hence the series title.
