Little Britain – Back Where It All Began

Little Britain – Radio Series – 2001

As David Walliams springs back to our TV screens, with his new sketch show David Walliams and Friend,  it’s back to the beginning we go, as we look at Little Britain The Radio Series.

Little Britain started life as a nine part Radio Series on BBC Radio 4.  Created by Matt Lucas and David Walliams who went on to develop the show for television.

Originally there was a pilot episode that went out in 2000.  This was followed by a first series of five episodes and a second series of four episodes.

Matt Lucas and David Walliams were the principal stars and as with the Television series Tom Baker was the Narrator.

Summary

Just as with the Television Series Matt Lucas and David Walliams play a variety of characters in sketches involving exaggerated parodies of British people from all walks of life in various situations familiar to the British.

The show is presented to the listener together with narration in a manner which suggests that the programme is a guide — aimed at non-British people — to the ways of life of various classes of British society.

Many familiar characters are here including Emily and Florence  – the rubbish transvestites and Dennis Waterman.
